The 1940’s Hiawatha bikes can be extremely valuable. A recent 17” St. Croix Model with Balloon Tires was listed for $3800 on a popular website. These were hand built bicycles and made in the USA and were made by several different manufacturers. It’s very difficult to know the exact year model on these bikes, but one 1940’s Vintage Hiawatha Cruiser found online recently was described as red and black with the serial number of 3-809A. This sounds like it could be the serial number you’re referring to. It was a men’s bike with an 18 inch steel frame and 24 inch wheels. Hope this helps!
